As of June 2014, Kinder Morgan Canada employees have worked more than 1.5 million consecutive hours without a lost time incident. The company uses an Integrated Safety and Loss Management System (ISLMS), which includes all safety programs with continuous improvement as an underlying principle. Safety has become firmly entrenched in the planning process and in daily work habits, and is deeply ingrained within our corporate culture.
Kinder Morgan Canada workers, including management, field staff and contractors, are required to follow all safety laws and regulations to ensure the safety of the workforce, as well as the general public. Legislation we follow includes the Federal Canada Labour Code Part II and the Code’s affiliated Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, as well as the WorkSafeBC Act and Regulations and the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations and Codes of Alberta as applicable to jurisdiction.
Kinder Morgan Canada requires all contractors working in its facilities and on its infrastructure to undergo a rigorous registration and evaluation process through ISNetworld. ISNetworld helps companies and organizations with contractor and supplier prequalification, management and monitoring. ISNetworld provides a global resource for connecting corporations with safe, reliable contractors to support both projects and ongoing operations. In addition, while employed in work for KMC, contractors are subject to oversight and inspection by KMC personnel to ensure safety performance meets all requirements.
