Construction of the Trans Mountain Expansion Project in the Fraser Valley region includes Spread 6 pipeline construction and the expansion of Sumas Terminal.

Spread 6 Pipeline Construction

Pipeline construction in this region extends from Bridal Veil Falls to Langley. Work consists primarily of conventional pipeline construction techniques, with trenchless techniques being used for select watercourse and road crossings as well as some high-density residential areas.

Michels Canada is the contractor responsible for this work, which includes:

  • Approximately 70 km of pipeline construction
  • 84 trenchless crossings
  • 12 special-project areas requiring modified techniques to accommodate unique land uses or environmental considerations

Sumas Terminal Construction

Kiewit Ledcor Trans Mountain Partnership (KLTP) is doing the work at Trans Mountain’s Sumas Terminal, which includes the addition of one new storage tank. The expansion will bring the total number of tanks to seven and a total storage capacity of 890,000 barrels.
