Construction of the Trans Mountain Expansion Project in the Greater Edmonton area includes approximately 50 km of pipeline; one pump station; and the addition of four new storage tanks at Edmonton Terminal. In this region, the pipeline is being routed through urban areas, and through Edmonton’s Transportation Utility Corridor where possible. Pipeline construction will follow conventional construction techniques, and horizontal directional drills will also be used in several areas to help minimize impacts and disruptions. Construction at select sites is expected to begin in September 2017, with the majority of construction taking place in late 2018 and into 2019. Pipeline construction should conclude in May 2019. Terminal and pump station construction is expected to finish in September 2019.
