Trans Mountain lead an interactive workshop, hosted by the Burnaby Board of Trade, to assist in maximizing the economic opportunities with the Project, help local businesses understand and prepare for potential procurement opportunities, and create awareness about possible employment and training opportunities in Burnaby and throughout the Lower Mainland.

The event attracted more than 90 attendees from different sectors of businesses in Burnaby ranging from environmental service suppliers to local electrical companies. Trans Mountain was pleased to introduce the Kiewit-Ledcor partnership (KLTP) to the attendees as TMEP's major Lower Mainland contractor to provide direct information about the Project's procurement process and timelines, as well as to help potential suppliers prepare to participate in the process of bidding for work on the Project.

Subject matter experts including Trans Mountain’s Supply Chain Management team and KLTP gave a brief presentation about the Project’s procurement overall objectives, strategy and process. This included an overview of the selection process for suppliers and guidelines for potential vendors on how to prepare for and respond to a Request for Proposal (RFP). The presentation was followed by a question and answer period, breakout discussions and networking where attendees were able to ask questions and have meaningful conversations directly with Trans Mountain, KLTP and other businesses.

Trans Mountain’s online procurement registry will assist with the selection process for potential sub-contractors, suppliers and vendors. The data collected by Trans Mountain will be provided to all of Trans Mountain’s General Construction Contractors for consideration. Businesses can register their company here.
