Trans Mountain’s Puget Sound Pipeline begins at our Sumas Terminal in Abbotsford, B.C. where it connects to the Trans Mountain Pipeline. It’s been carrying Canadian crude oil products to refinery facilities in Washington State since 1954.
Depending on the needs of Trans Mountain’s customers, the amount of product shipped through the Puget Sound Pipeline varies from week to week. Our 2018 product destination numbers show 53 per cent of the product in the pipeline was shipped to Puget Sound last year to serve four refineries in Washington state: BP Cherry Point Refinery, Phillips 66 Ferndale Refinery, Tesoro Anacortes Refinery and Shell Anacortes Refinery.
We spoke with Patrick Davis, Supervisor of the Puget Sound District, to learn a little bit more about the system and its day-to-day operations.
