Whether it’s roadwork, infrastructure projects, home improvements or a new garden, Trans Mountain wants everyone to be mindful of the risks underfoot, as spring historically marks increased ground disturbance. Trans Mountain proudly supports Safe Digging month, an initiative recognized in Canada and the US, aimed at raising awareness about proactive digging practices that can improve safety and reduce damage to underground infrastructure.
The month of April is dedicated to promoting “Click or Call Before You Dig” and raises awareness of our underground linear infrastructure and encourages residential, commercial and industrial diggers to connect with their One Call provider before any earth is disturbed regardless of how big or small the project may be.
Safe practices are essential and ensure you and others are free from harm or danger. Think about safety before you start any job and ask yourself “is this something that is potentially dangerous?” The end goal is to ensure we maintain a safe work environment for coworkers, family and ourselves. Participate in Safe Dig Month by promoting “Click or Call Before You Dig”, use the free service of your local One Call centre, and follow #DigSafe and #DigSafeMonth on Twitter.
April is Safe Digging Month, but safety is important 365 days of the year. Know what’s below and remind friends and loved ones to do the same. Click or call before you dig.
