We are proud to announce that Trans Mountain’s Environmental Protection Rules program has won the 2021 CEPA Foundation Award for Innovation for our industry-leading program.

The Canadian Energy Pipeline Association (CEPA) Foundation Award for Innovation is given to a member company in the areas of sponsoring, leading or adopting innovation in the energy pipeline industry.

The program is modelled after the successful and industry standard “Life Saving Rules” program. The program’s goal is to have “Environmental Protection Rules” at the forefront of peoples’ minds in their daily work and includes supporting our environmental protection goals across the Project.

There are 10 rules that make up this program. Each rule is founded on data and focuses on preventing significant environmental events. The program and rules are the first of their kind and are part of the Trans Mountain Expansion Project Level 1 Environmental Training. Environmental stewardship and leadership are rewarded through our Environmental Protection Rules (EPR) Award program. There are two tiers of awards – Spot Awards and Quarterly Awards. Spot Awards provide immediate on-the-ground recognition of individuals and teams who demonstrate positive environmental practices. Quarterly Awards recognize teams and individuals who have shown an outstanding effort and adherence to the rules on a larger and sustained scale. The EPRs are about holding our team accountable for environmental protection and leading by example.
